Rand Paul Talks Sense about Iraq

Rick Perry, who is acting disturbingly like he wants to run for President again, wrote an idiotic Op-Ed attacking Rand Paul for "ignoring ISIS" and other sins in his positions on the mess in Iraq. Part of Paul's response:
Any future military action by the United States must always be based on an assessment of what has worked and what hasn’t. This basic, common sense precondition is something leaders in both parties have habitually failed to meet. . . . If refusing to send Americans to die for a country that refuses to defend itself makes one an 'isolationist,' then perhaps its time we finally retire that pejorative. . . .
In fact, some of Perry’s solutions for the current chaos in Iraq aren’t much different from what I’ve proposed, something he fails to mention. His solutions also aren’t much different from President Barack Obama’s, something he also fails to mention. Because interestingly enough, there aren’t that many good choices right now in dealing with this situation in Iraq.
Really, people, it is not that hard to say sensible things. It is not.

Your post makes me want to re-evaluate my opposition to Rand Paul. But I really can't stand all that Libertarian-Ayn Rand-Objectivist crap. What to do?

Right. The only important Republican with sensible ideas about foreign policy is the craziest in some other ways.
